Pitching Machine

Well, we graduated from t-ball to pitching machine this year.  Corwin's team wasn't terribly successful.  In fact, they were more terrible than successful.  They won a couple, but lost most.  However, they were a very young and inexperienced team.  Corwin learned a lot, and really improved a lot.  He got a lot of playing time, and really improved his throwing and hitting.  So, all-in-all, it was a good season.  It is now over.  I think we're all a little relieved and ready for the break.

 

The Final Days....

...of first grade, that is.  Corwin finished up first grade in the beginning of May.  He had a great year!  He wiped out the awards ceremony with the AR Award (most AR reading points in his class), top Reading grade, 3rd spelling, 2nd math, and Straight A Honor Roll.

 

 

 Then he went on to win several blue ribbons at Play Day.

 

 

A week, or so, later we decided to go fishing at the closest lake.  The boys fished....

 

...while Ella and I played.

 

Then, we enjoyed a picnic lunch together.  Not of fish, mind you.  They weren't terribly cooperative that day.

 

And, finally, a boat ride.  It put Ella to sleep.  I must admit, I got a little sleepy myself.  But, I figured it wouldn't be terribly smart to nod off while holding my sleeping 18-month-old daughter in the middle of a large lake.

 

It was a fun day, and a good way to kick off summer.  (Even if we did wear sweatshirts and pants.)

Easter Weekend 2013

So much went on this Easter weekend, that I don't know that I could explain it all.  The kids played with animals, played with cousins, dyed eggs, hunted eggs, received Easter baskets, celebrated at church, then enjoyed a quiet evening at home.  The pictures say it all!  Fun was had by all!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 



The Most Important Decision...

Corwin asked--out of the blue--"What does it feel like when you get saved?"  We were on our way to evening church services, and Jason and I described how we felt when we made that important decision.  Corwin then went to describe their Sunday School lesson that morning, and how they talked about needs.  How we need certain things in life, but that the most important need we have is salvation through Jesus Christ.  He, then, went on to say, "I need to be saved."

 

 

No greater feeling does a mother have than to hear those words.  I told him that if he wanted to ask our pastor any more questions, he could do that before service (we just "happened" to be running early that evening).  He agreed, and did so when we arrived at church.  He came out with a silly, embarrassed little grin on his face that told me he'd prayed the most important prayer any person can pray, and had asked Jesus into his heart.  HALLELUJAH!!!

 

That evening, during the service, Bro. Don brought Corwin up to the front of the church and announced his good news.  That night, Corwin (and I) couldn't wait to call all his grandparents, aunts and uncles and tell them!  He was so excited, and even more excited to get baptised.

 

A couple weeks later, on March 10, during the evening service, Corwin was baptised.  The church was full with family and church family, who were all excited to celebrate with us.  Two others were also baptised that evening.  It was truly a special evening!

 

 

Since the day I knew I was expecting this boy, I've prayed for this day.  I am so thankful to God for His faithfulness to call, forgive, and wash clean.  I pray Corwin grows and never forsakes his God, and serves him with all his heart and soul and mind.

Spring Tease

Spring teased us with a couple nice, sunny, warm days in the beginning of March.  Owen and Ella absolutely LOVE being outside!

 

 

Ella has discovered the sandbox.  Such fun for such a little girl!

I thought winter was over after a couple of warm days, but we were proven wrong when we got snow just a couple weeks later.  But, we enjoyed it while it lasted, and look forward to many, many warm days very soon.
