A Dapper Homecoming

Corwin was asked to be the "junior attendant," "crown bearer," ... whatever you want to call it, for the high school's basketball homecoming program.  He was very willing to do it, until he found out he'd have to dress up.  He told me he'd do it, but he'd wear his basketball uniform (which consists of a yellow t-shirt and maroon gym shorts).  I told him that was not an option, so he began to back out.  BUT, then he found out we'd get to go to a basketball game, so I guess we weighed the good with the bad and decided it was worth it!

We borrowed a little suit from a friend of ours, shoes from an acquaintance, bought a tie, and wore a hand-me-down dress shirt, and the results were stellar!

And, he had a crowd of fans, too.  Nana, Pa, Brett, Jeremy, Kerrie, Jack, plus all of us were there to watch his walk onto the court and up on stage.

This picture is really poor, but he had the important job of carrying the king's crown and placing it on his head.  He did great!  Kerrie (Aunt Toot-Toot) asked him before the program if he was excited, and he said yes.  She asked if he was nervous, and he said nope!

Another pay-off was that he got to get out of class Friday afternoon to practice.  Then, he was allowed to stay for the high school pep rally, which he really enjoyed.  I think, all in all, it was worth dressing up.  He had a lot of fun!  (And so did we.)

First Great-Granddaughter

Ella finally got to meet Mimmy and Pappy last weekend.  She is their first great granddaughter.  She won't be the only one for long, though.  Cousins Jake and Ylani are expecting Miss Annalee in a few weeks.  We are very excited!

Anyway, we weren't able to make the trip to Texarkana over Christmas to see them this time, so Mimmy and Pappy graciously rode with Uncle Bob and Aunt Lorna up to Nana and Pa's house.  We enjoyed a really good visit with them, and they enjoyed our children.  :)

Oh, and of course, there were MORE presents.  Too many more.  I think our van was nearly as heavily loaded going home from this short trip as it was after Christmas!  My kids are spoiled, that's for sure!  We're going to start having to rent a U-Haul trailer just to get all the loot back home!

Christmas, Part 2

Okay.  Now, onto Grandma and Grandpa's House!  When we arrived, the E-Team had already been there for a day or two.  (I had some dental work that needed to be done while Jason was on Christmas break, so we went home for a day so I could get it done.)  Anyway, the boys were incredibly excited to see their cousins.  And, I think the cousins were excited to meet Ella!  We ate dinner, then immediately got to the gift-giving.  Fun stuff!

Oh, but first ... a picture!

Owen was not pleased with having to take a picture first.  He just wanted to open presents.

Here are the boys, Ethan, Corwin, and Owen.  Three boys and three girls now.

Ella got to meet Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa.  She is fortunate to still have two sets of great grandparents.

Then, we had Christmas with the Draper bunch.  It is always fun and lively with eight children running around.

We also spent time with the Hosiners and Warricks.  It was a great Christmas, and Ella got to meet almost all the family, on both sides.  We are thankful for the fun time of giving, recieving, and family gatherings.  We are also thankful for safe travel on the roads.  I love this time of year!

Christmas Part 1

This year, we were blessed to be able to spend a large chunk of our Christmas break at home.  Ahhh... home, sweet, home.  I mean, we're always glad to be able to spend considerable time with the family, but it is exhausting.  Especially with three small children.

So, we had our Christmas at home the morning we left for our first destination.  The kids were so excited!  (Even Ella!  Can't you see!)  The boys helped her open her presents, until she fell asleep.  Then, we just put her to bed and finished them for her.  :)

Then we enjoyed a breakfast of cinnamon roll pancakes.  (Yes, they are incredibly good, but very messy.)  After that, we were on our way!  To Arkansas, that is, to Nana and Pa's.

This was many of Jason's family's first time to meet Ella.  They were kind enough to give me a baby shower that first evening where she got lots of good stuff.  We had get-togethers with the whole Stroud crew (which are always ... lively) and ate too much.  Then, we prepared for Santa's arrival....

Thankfully, the boys (and Ella) were not disappointed Christmas morning.

Again, Ella slept through all the gift opening.
Here she is in her Christmas outfit.  We had the honor of going to church on the Lord's birthday.  What better place to be than in His house?

This was a very special Christmas because we were given a very, VERY special gift of Ella just three weeks prior.  I am one blessed Mommy!
