A Hodge-Podge of Events

I've got a few random pictures from the past couple of weeks that I thought I'd share. Here's Big O in the tub. He finally is enjoying is baths. For most of his life (up to this point) he's screamed in the bath tub. But, he also screamed during diaper and wardrobe changes. Just don't think the boy liked being all "out in the open". But, bath time is a good time now. Yay!

Here are the boys last week, just hangin' around the house. I thought it was cute.

Corwin has taken interest in helping me with many of the household chores. YAY!!! He washed dishes the other day (under my supervision, of course) and did and outstanding job! I will never reject an offer for help. That's my boy!

This past weekend we were in Arkansas for Jason's sister's baby shower. It was a success, and they were blessed with many baby items. If she were to have that baby boy, he'd be able to ride home in the car safely, be bathed and clothed, have a dry bottom, and be fed properly. Let's see... that should cover it! I was honored to be able to hostess, and had a blast doing it (with the help of her cousins, that is).

While there, the family seemed to think it was necessary to celebrate Corwin's birthday... again. He was "showered" with plenty of toys and goodies. I told Jason that next year, we are not taking that boy anywhere near Arkansas or Texas the entire month of September! He is beyond spoiled, and I don't think they realize that we don't have to celebrate his birthday the whole month long!

We are anxiously approaching the end of baseball season. Only a couple more weeks of long days and nights at the ball field. Corwin loves going to ball games and we don't miss a home game, or one within 30 minutes. He insists on wearing his cleats, and taking his batting helmet, not that he watches the game any.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading! Have a blessed day! Praise the Lord Fall is Here!

Out of This World Birthday

Corwin finally had his "alien" birthday cake Saturday evening. Yes, it looks more like a fiesta sombrero, or something, but it's the best I could do (I didn't quite know how to make a grey icing). Anyway, Grandma, Grandpa, Nana, and Pa came and spent the weekend with the boys for Grandparents' Day, and Corwin enjoyed every minute of it. First we went to one of Daddy's baseball games, then came home for supper and alien cake.

Corwin's birthday was rather low-key this year. Every year we've had him a party, but not this year. Monday (Labor Day) we took him to play Putt-Putt golf and ride go-karts. The go-kart track we went to had a special track and go-karts for little guys, so he was able to drive all by himself! He LOVED it! Then he and Daddy took a ride on the big track. He liked his car better. I have pictures on my phone, but am not sure how to download them onto my computer. Maybe later.

Anyway, Tuesday (the actual birthday), some friends came over with a small cake and a present. He was very pleased. He finally thought it had been a good birthday.

Then, this weekend the grandparents were here. Next weekend we're going to Arkansas to hostess a shower for Jason's sister, and I think he'll have yet another cake and celebration. Poor kid must think the entire month of September is dedicated to celebrating his birth.

Anyway, here are some pictures of the sad little cake. I'm kinda embarrassed that I'm even posting these pictures, but... oh, well. Corwin loved it. That's all that matters (0h, and that it tasted good, even if we did all end up with green mouths for a while).

Not Me Friday!

A friend of mine does this on her blog (except it's "Not Me Monday"), and I love every installment. So, I'm going to try it:

Not Me Friday!

1. I did not find my 10-month-old baby playing in the toilet yesterday! And it certainly did not have pee in it! I would never allow my oldest to not flush the toilet or not know where the baby is at all times! I am always on top of everything!

2. I did not find that same baby eating a spider the other day. No way! My house is always tidy and pest-free. (And I certainly didn't gag trying to remove the aforementioned spider. I certainly don't have a weak stomach and can handle almost anything.)

3. I did not allow my oldest to go to the store with his shirt and shorts backwards, and shoes on the wrong feet. I am very concerned about my children and how they look in public.

4. I did not put my baby in a box so I could complete laundry detail. That is not like me. I am dripping with patience and don't stifle my children's exploratory nature.

5. And, I certainly did not let Corwin watch cartoons all day so that I could shop on eBay all day. Again, I am always attentive and strictly ration TV time.

Tub Time!

I thought I'd take a quick video of O during his bath tonight. The last few times he's had his bath he's discovered the sound of water. It is fascinating to him, and he'll swish and swish and swish that water around!

Then, here's a picture of Corwin on his birthday getting birthday wishes from... oh, I don't' know who. He had a zillion calls that day!!! I guess that was a glimpse of what it'll be like in 10-15 years. Ugh. Anyway, he couldn't understand how it was his birthday if there weren't balloons, birthday cake, and presents. I guess the Putt-Putt and go-karts outing the day before was just another Monday. :)

Then we made a car out of a box we found in the basement. I don't know who likes it more, Corwin or Owen. Oh, the fun you can have with a box!

F-O-U-R

Four years ago today I had an ultrasound showing a B-I-G baby inside (estimated between 9 1/2 and 10 lbs.), and Dr. Watson said it was time to have this baby. We were given instructions to come back the next evening and get admitted into the hospital. So, on this night--four years ago-- I was lying in "bed" (which, at the time, was a fold-out couch in my parents' fifth-wheel trailer), feeling quite anxious about the task that lie ahead. I'd always been terrified of child birth, and finally the time had come to face that fear. I remember feeling Corwin kick my belly and thinking that in (hopefully) 24 hours I'd finally see my baby's face.

We showed up at the OB nurse's desk at 7 p.m. and began the induction process. Into the hospital gown, monitors hooked up all over my huge belly, and medication administered to begin labor. It was a fitful night's sleep.

At 6:30 a.m., September 8, 2005, my water broke. And, finally, around 3:30, the pushing began. After a couple hours of pushing, little Corwin burst into the world at 5:13 p.m. I remember crying when I first saw my baby. He was so perfect! Dark hair, and so pretty (even if he did have a lumpy head). 8 lbs. 13 oz., 21 inches long, Corwin James Morris was here!

My mom kept telling me how pretty he was, and Dad was fascinated with his big feet. When everyone left, Jason and I were left alone with this...human being. I was so happy, and so terrified. I couldn't get over the fact that this precious baby was now my responsibility.

Corwin is full of life! He's loved to be read to since he was 2 months old, and has asked questions about everything imaginable since he was able to say "Why?". He loves tomatoes, baseball, Puppy, and going to church. He doesn't like wasps, burnt edges on food, or coloring with crayons. He is witty and has a vocabulary beyond his years. Corwin thinks he is 16 and is the epitome of all knowledge. He is currently fascinated with anything NASA and space-related, and aspires to be an astronaut, trash man, and/or president. He is loved by everyone, and loves everyone in return. He has a huge heart and strong will. He has been the hardest job I've ever had, and the biggest joy. Someday, I hope he becomes a strong man of God that will be stubborn about his faith and compassionate toward people.

He doesn't' fit on my lap as well as he used to, and can buckle his own seat belt. Yesterday he was screaming in my lap as we were being wheeled out of the hospital. It's amazing how quickly it all goes. Happy Birthday to my Big Boy!
