Open W - I - D - E ! ! !

Corwin had his first dental appointment today. (You can save yourself the lecture on how bad a mother I am for waiting until my son is 4 1/2 years old before taking him to get his teeth checked. I already know it.) I was anxious about him getting anxious, but--once again--my son rose to the occasion. He had a blast! And, he was a pleasure to all who worked with him.

He was ushered into a "space" room, complete with solar system and astronaut. This, automatically, won him over. Of course, he had to tell the hygienist that he was going to be an astronaut one day and how much he loved space...and insects. All bugs except bees and wasps, of course. He was amazed by the moving chair, and the hygienist's electric toothbrush. He loved that the "spit sucker" gave him a fish face when he closed his mouth around it.

He was asked if he knew what flossing was, and of course he did. Then, he went on to explain that his Grandpa flosses all the time. His grandpa's name is Walter, he lives in Rogersville, and he has a BIG garden and a Gator. Riding around in a Gator was a lot of fun.... Poor woman. She would ask what she thought would be simple "yes" or "no" questions. One never gets what he or she expects from Corwin, though. She had to stop several times so he could finish his tale.

The dentist found two small cavities that we will have to go back and get fixed. And, my child is probably the ONLY child in existence that is excited about getting to go back two more times! "That's a whole three times," he says. We'll see if he's still excited for that third visit after he gets his first filling.

He was a star patient. He left with a new soccer toothbrush with a tongue cleaner on it, his own Sponge Bob toothpaste, his own floss (of which he is very excited), pictures of his teeth, a free pizza from Papa Murphy's, a Batman sticker, a brushing timer, and whatever else he could squeeze out of that lady's cabinet drawer. Oh, and a book! He just kept standing there, and she just kept giving him stuff! The boy knows how to milk it.

After his appointment, we went to Papa Murphy's to get his pizza. And, again, because of his curiosity, he got a personal tour of the Papa Murphy's kitchen. He got to help make his pizza and got to see their gigantic refrigerator.
He has had a very exciting day! Dentist appointment, free pizza, restaurant tour, etc.! When is the last time you had such an exciting day?
